"I want to spend $100,000" is what I hear most often. In this economy, In certain cases, it actually costs as much or more to own a motorhome valued at less than $100k than one valued much higher. Banks want so large of a deposit, most buyers veer away from higher end coaches. This means that dealers buy more lower priced inventory at auction and mark them up substantially. It is possible to own a 5 year old coach valued at more than $200,000 today for less than the annual cost of a new class C camper!
Unlike a vacation, which has zero value after it is up, a motorcoach is an asset that usually goes down in value, but is still worth most of what you paid. We need to change your perspective in recognizing "value" instead of the "price" of the unit. Instead of giving us a price, we prefer to know what your annual expense to own a coach would be instead of how much you want to spend.
To get an annual expense, we add the following individual expenses:
1. Annual depreciation $5k, $10k, $25k, $50k or more
2. Annual Costs including Fuel, Maint, Repairs, Insurance.
3. Monthly Payment Principle plus Interest
